How To Register for Transfer Orientation

All newly admitted students will receive an e-mail prompting them to register at the New Student Site. This site will assist you in selecting an Orientation date and prepare you for your first quarter enrollment at UCSD. Please register before the deadline or contact jmctransfer@ucsd.edu with any questions you may have.

Please note that Muir College's Transfer Orientation Program is only open to registered incoming transfer students. Friends, significant others, and family who accompany students to campus will not be permitted to participate in the Orientation program. Please note that daycare and/or babysitting services are not provided.

We encourage non-student guests to explore the campus on their own or to visit the Triton Center to participate in an organized campus tour with other visitors. The UCSD Price Center also has a number of dining options for visitors.

Changing Sessions & Cancellations

Changing Sessions: The deadline to change your Orientation session is Wednesday, August 31st. You will be charged a one-time late fee of $25 for any session changes made after this date. For any other changes or those made after the deadline, please email jmctransfer@ucsd.edu with your name, PID, phone number, and change request.  If you do not receive a response within 2 business days please contact the John Muir College Office of Student Affairs at (858) 534-3587.

Cancellation: Since Orientation is mandatory for all students you will be charged for the Orientation program regardless of attendance.

Paying For Orientation

Students: Orientation will be billed along with your Fall Quarter’s tuition which is available on TritonLink in early September.  Payment for Fall quarter is due on September 15, 2017.  If you receive Financial Aid, you will be able to use it towards the Orientation fee as well as your quarterly tuition.

How do I get there?

Click here for directions to campus.  Look for signs directing you from the campus entrance to the appropriate parking lot.  We will also have signs leading from the parking lot to Orientation check-in.

What about parking?

Complimentary parking permits will be provided by a member from UCSD Parking & Transportation Services at the entrance of Parking Lot 208 beginning at 7:15am.  After parking, please follow signs for "Muir College Orientation" to the Orientation Check-In area located in front of McGill Hall.

The parking grace period is from 7:00am-9:00am.  If you arrive on campus before the parking grace periods, you will need to purchase a parking permit so that you do not receive a parking ticket.

Please note that Muir College is not responsible for parking tickets you might receive.

What if I arrive to campus early for Orientation?
