Student Rights and Responsibilities

Being a member of the John Muir College community is a privilege and tied to that privilege is the responsibility of being a positive, contributing member. Understanding your rights and responsibilities is essential for every member of the community.

The following section outlines the policies of the university as it relates to discipline for both academic and non-academic behaviors. It is our hope that you will read this information carefully and ask questions for anything you do not understand.

Best wishes for a positive and productive tenure at John Muir College and the University of California San Diego.

University Expectations and Policies

The university expects that all students will respect the right, well-being and property of others; respect the academic process; and not interfere with university business, events, or activities.  It is also expected that students, staff, and faculty will adhere to the UC San Diego Principles of Community  In support of these expectations, there are many University policies in place.  In fact, it seems that there’s a policy covering just about everything you can imagine.

Below are links to many of the policies that UC San Diego has.
