Special Announcement

Yesterday there was an off-campus mass shooting at the Crossroads Apartment Complex, an area in which we know many students live.  At this time we are unaware if any of the victims were affiliated with UC San Diego.  If you or someone you know was affected by this incident you are encouraged to reach out to any staff at the college (Student Affairs, Residential Life or Academic Advising), to me directly at pmahaffey@ucsd.edu or to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

CAPS provides free, confidential, counseling and crisis services for registered UCSD students. The CAPS Central Office is located in Galbraith Hall 190.   They are open 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, and can be reached at 858-534-3755.  Additionally, San Diego Police ask that anyone with additional information on the shooting contact them immediately at 619-531-2000.

Please know, Muir College is here to support you!  In the aftermath of last night’s event, the strength of our community is reflected in the support we give to each other.  Our thoughts go out to all, especially to those who were shot or injured, and to their family and friends.

Muir Spirit Committee Meeting #3!

Muir Spirit Committee is all about planning spirit events throughout the year for the Muir community. We have a couple events coming up soon and could use your help, come check us out and help get Muir pumped up! Meeting is from 4-5pm on Tuesday, October 25th in Half Dome Lounge!

There will be a tailgate in front of M.O.M. from 5:30pm-6:30pm with free food, games, and a raffle. After the tailgate, we'll all head over to the game together and rep JMC!

MEC is a casual group of students that hang out, get outside, and talk about environmental current events. We have meetings every Wednesday at 6PM in Half Dome Lounge.

Upcoming Events:

Friday, 10/28 Halloween Tote Bags

MEC will be giving away FREE TOTE BAGS at Muir's Halloween Event! Stop by our table to get one, decorate it, and find out why Prop 67 -- the plastic bag ban -- is important.

Sunday, 10/30 Sally Ride Tours

There are free tours of Scripps' new research vessel, the Sally Ride, in downtown San Diego from 12 - 4 PM. MEC wants to know if you'd like to go, and if you're interested in driving (or sharing an uber) to get there.

For more details, see events on our facebook page: facebook.com/groups/MECatUCSD/
