Ann Hawthorne

Assistant Dean of Student Affairs

Ann received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and earned a master’s in Postsecondary Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Student Affairs from San Diego State University. Originally from the Washington, DC area, Ann decided to venture west to California after graduating from college.

Ann has been working as a Student Affairs professional at UC San Diego for 10 years. She has served in several different professional capacities on campus. Prior to coming to Muir, Ann was a Campus-wide Event Coordinator and Student Organization Advisor in the Center for Student Involvement and served as an Admissions Officer in the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools.

Ann’s responsibilities as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs range from advising student organizations and developing leadership programs to coordinating Freshman and Transfer Orientations. However, Ann thinks her most important duty is helping students find their place on campus and get the most out of their college experience!

When not at work, Ann loves spending time with her husband and daughter, going to the beach and traveling.
