John Muir College Student Organizations
Muir College's student government. MCC is comprised of seventeen student members (including four A.S. senators). MCC is responsible for determining how Muir student activity fees are spent. MCC also funds a variety of Muir projects and activities. Nominated and appointed positions are available.

From tutoring to food drives Muir's Community Service Club is one of the most active organizations with weekly service opportunities. Some non-profit organizations with which that Muir Community Service Club has worked include: the San Diego Center for Children, John Muir Alternative School, YMCA, KPBS, and San Diego's Adopt-a-family.

M3C is best known for hosting a weekly FREE breakfast and final's week burnout for all Muir commuters to enjoy. M3C also represents the Muir commuter population on important University issues relating to commuters such as; parking, commuting, shuttle service and much more. If you commute to UCSD this is the perfect organization for you!
Show off your creative mind in the Creative Mag! Muir has its own creative magazine, published each spring, which features prose and poetry, photos, and artwork, by Muir students. Free copies of the publication are given out to students at the end of Spring quarter.

MEC participates in environmental activities at the college and the surrounding community. Outings include clean-up projects in the mountains (Adopt a Highway), on streams and beach bluffs; supporting recycling efforts around the campus and environs; and lead petition drives. They also are involved with Muir's environmental seminar which is a 1 unit class offered winter quarter.
That's right folks! Muir College has its very own channel, broadcast to all residents and, at select times, the entire campus! Whether you're interested in directing your own show, working the cameras, doing the editing, or anchoring a news show, MCTV has a place for you.

This organization is dedicated to promoting cultural awareness throughout the college. MCS plans activities that educate, celebrate, and appreciate various cultures. MCS activities include; Sushi Nights, participation in San Diego's Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, and celebrations planned around cultural holidays.
Muir's student-produced humor newspaper involves a large staff of students in writing, photography, layout and editing. The MQ is a little more laid-back than the Guardian and a little less offensive than the Koala. Join the high jinks and you may just get to ride a donkey at the end of the year!

A Community of students focused on developing their relationship with God and serving the spiritual needs of Muir College. Through weekly Bible studies, outreach events, community service projects, and simply hanging out the members grow closer to each other and God.

This organization plans one completely student-run, big budget musical production every Spring quarter. A year-long project combines the talents of performers, production staff, and orchestra members into one of the biggest events on-campus. Past productions include: Once on this Island, Cabaret, Into the Woods, Drood, Pippin, Sunday in the Park with George, Sweeney Todd, and Little Shop of Horrors. Open to all majors and all colleges.

This essential college body allocates its very substantial budget in the most creative ways imaginable. MOB, a notorious group that plans several annual events such as; the Suit Case Dance, Casino Night, also subsidizes off-campus excursions to Knott's Scary Farm, Big Bear Mountain, and much more! Comprised of representatives from each house plus the apartments. Res. Council is best known for the Annual Halloween Carnival and Pumpkin Drop, Spirit Night, Midnight Breakfast, Burnout Center and other events that appeal to Muir*s residential community.

Were you active in high school theatre? Is theatre something you always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity to do? Muir Theatre Troupe offers the opportunity for seasoned performers and new talent to put on their own productions.
New transfer students are matched with continuing students, who share their experiences and the strategies they*ve learned for succeeding at UCSD.
Are you considering a future in medicine or health but not sure if the field is right for you? Are you concerned about having the right stuff to get into Medical or Graduate school? Well, both of these issues can be solved by joining Muir's Eventual Doctors Club. This club is designed around medical discussions, presentations from prestigious keynote speakers, networking with other students, having fun and much more. Join the club to find out more!
Is expected to be a blockbuster hit with Muir students! The Muir Movie will be a full length feature movie produced, written, and acted by UCSD students. All student are welcome to join, no experience necessary.

Student initiated scholarship fund. Members help to raise funds, solicit for sponsorship and select a recipient for scholarship from the incoming freshmen class.
(Student Taking the Initiative to Crochet Hats) - The members of S.T.I.T.C.H. crochet hats and blankets to donate to homeless shelters, children's hospitals, and convalescent homes. Don't worry if you don't know how to crochet, they'll teach you!

Muir's newest organization is full of laughs! Members will learn comedy improv techniques to perform Comedy Improv shows for the Muir and University Community. If you like to have fun and laugh this is great organization for you. No experience necessary.

Muir Bowling League teams play most Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the local bowling alley. Three bowlers play per team. If you like to bowl or would like to learn come on out and join us. All skill levels are welcome! (Fall Quarter)
An on-going committee that plan the college's annual winter and spring student leadership training retreats.
This program is designed to acquaint first year students to UCSD, build a unique bond between a first year Muir student and upper-class Muir student, encourage involvement and knowledge of Muir traditions and activities, successfully transition first year students from high school to the rigors of the University environment. First year students who choose to participate will be paired up with current Muir students to form a big and little bro/sis relationship.
Welcome Week may be the most memorable experience of your college career and Muir's Welcome Week committee is responsible for planning every aspect of it. From selecting an Unolympic theme to choosing the nightly entertainment the Welcome Week committee makes it all happen! Meetings start during the Spring quarter.
This committee organizes an all-day extravaganza to inform prospective Muirons about the college. The committee plans the entire day's schedule which typically includes tours, outdoor activities, entertainment, and information sessions. The Admit Day Committee does not begin meeting until Winter quarter.
